本アプリは、著作権の保護期間が終わった英語の名作を、日本語をまぜながら読むためのアプリです。本ポリシーは、本アプリが取り扱う情報とその目的について説明します。

1. 端末内に保存する情報

次の情報は、利用者の端末内にのみ保存されます。開発者がこれらを閲覧・収集することはありません。

これらはアプリを削除すると端末から消去されます。単語の辞書と読み上げは端末内で処理し、調べた単語や読んでいる文章を外部へ送ることはありません。

2. アカウント連携と同期

Googleアカウント、またはApple Account（iOS版の「Appleでサインイン」）でログインすると、読書位置・本棚の構成・表示設定・単語帳・クイズの成績をクラウドに保存し、同じアカウントでログインした他の端末へ引き継げます。ログインは任意で、ログインしなくても本アプリのすべての読書機能を利用できます。

本アプリは、無料での提供を維持するために Google の広告サービス「Google AdMob」を利用して、バナー広告と、利用者が任意で視聴する動画広告（「広告で応援」）を表示します。

5. 第三者への提供

開発者が、利用者の個人情報を第三者へ販売・提供することはありません。広告配信に伴う情報の取り扱いは、前項に記載の Google のポリシーに従います。

6. 児童のプライバシー

本アプリは13歳未満の児童を対象としたものではなく、児童から意図的に個人情報を収集することはありません。

7. 本ポリシーの変更

本ポリシーは、機能の追加や法令の変更に応じて改定することがあります。重要な変更がある場合は、本ページの最終更新日を改めます。

Privacy Policy

Mazeyomi Classics (the “App”) is an app for reading classic English literature whose copyright has expired, with Japanese words mixed into the text. This policy explains what information the App handles and why.

1. Information stored on your device

The following is stored only on your device. The developer cannot see or collect it.

Reading positions and reading status
Words and example sentences saved to your word book, and quiz results
Your bookshelves and the works placed on them
Display settings (reading mode, how many words are shown in Japanese, typeface, text size, line height, colour theme)
Book text files you have saved for offline reading

All of this is removed from your device when you uninstall the App. Dictionary look-ups and read-aloud are processed on the device; the words you look up and the text you read are never sent anywhere.

2. Account sign-in and sync

If you sign in with a Google account or an Apple Account (“Sign in with Apple” on iOS), your reading positions, bookshelves, display settings, word book and quiz results are stored in the cloud so you can carry them over to your other devices. Signing in is optional; every reading feature works without it.

Services used: Google Firebase Authentication for sign-in (Google Sign-In / Sign in with Apple) and Cloud Firestore (stored in the Tokyo region) for the data. See Firebase Privacy and Security for how Google handles it.
What is stored: the identifier, display name and email address of the account you signed in with (for authentication; if you choose “Hide My Email” with Sign in with Apple, the relay address issued by Apple), plus reading positions, bookshelves, display settings, word book and quiz results. Security rules restrict access so that only you can read or write your own data.
What is not synced: book text files saved for offline reading and purchase information.
Deletion: you can delete your account and the data stored in the cloud at any time from “Delete account” in the Settings tab (how to delete). Signing out only stops syncing on that device (your cloud data is kept). If you cannot delete it in the App, contact us at the address below.

3. Network connections

The App’s own content server (Firebase Hosting): to download updates such as the latest catalogue. Only the files themselves are requested; what you read and where you are in a book are not sent.
Public-domain text site: when you first open or save a book, the App downloads its text once from an external site that publishes public-domain works. Only the number of the book is sent; no account information, reading history or reading position is sent. The text is formatted and stored only on your device.
Google (Firebase): for sign-in and syncing your reading data (only when signed in).
Google: for serving ads, as described below.

4. Advertising

The App shows banner ads, and optional video ads you choose to watch (“Support with an ad”), through Google AdMob so that it can be offered free of charge.

Google and its advertising partners may use advertising identifiers and similar information to serve and measure ads. See Google’s Policies and Terms for details.
On iOS, the App asks for tracking permission before the advertising identifier is used. If you decline, it is not used.
You can turn off ad personalisation in your device settings (Android: Settings > Privacy > Ads; iOS: Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking).
Users in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland are shown a consent form on first launch. You can change your choices at any time from Settings > Ad privacy > Manage ad settings in the App.
Declining ad tracking does not restrict reading, search, or offline saving in any way.
Purchasing a premium plan (¥100/month, ¥500/year, or ¥1,000 one-time; prices vary by region) removes ads from the App. Payments are processed by Google Play / the App Store; the developer never receives your card details.

5. Sharing with third parties

The developer does not sell or otherwise provide your personal information to third parties. Information handled in connection with advertising is governed by the Google policies referenced above.

6. Children’s privacy

The App is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from them.

7. Changes to this policy

This policy may be revised as features change or as required by law. The “last updated” date above will be changed when it is.
